Solesca for engineering firms

One model under the drawing set. Revisions take minutes instead of hours.

From a received layout to a set you seal, without redrawing it in between.

From received layout to sealed set

Every sheet comes off the same model, so a change upstream reaches every page.

  1. 1 of 4

    Model

Rooftop, carport or ground mount, laid out with racking and modules picked.

Schematic: roof planes traced, carport bays and ground-mount rows
  2. 2 of 4

    Engineer

Place the AC equipment and string the DC side, with wire losses carried into the yield.

Schematic: strings assigned, DC wire losses included, the inverter, and the one-line drawn from the same model
  3. 3 of 4

    Quantify and check

Take the bill of materials off the model and run DNV SolarFarmer, unlimited on the Engineering License.

Schematic: a bill of materials taken off the model, from modules and inverters to transformers, poles and DC string sizes

    Export and seal

Three pages as a PDF plus one DXF each. Mark them up in CAD, then apply your seal.

Stampable up to three transformers, typically around 15 MW.

Before Solesca, our sales and engineering teams were misaligned on system sizes by up to 15-50%. Now, everyone is on the same page, which drastically reduces rework.

Questions engineering firms ask

What does Solesca produce for review?

A site plan with modules, placed equipment, parcel boundaries and roads on satellite imagery; a single-line diagram from the modules to the utility grid; and an equipment settings page with the equipment list, inverter settings, relay settings and notes, all drawn from the electrical model.

What file formats does the plan set export?

A PDF, plus a DXF folder with the images and one DXF file for each page, so you mark the set up in the CAD environment you already use instead of redrawing it.

Does Solesca stamp engineering drawings?

No. Solesca produces the plan set and the single-line diagram. Your own licensed engineer seals the package, or a licensed PE partner stamps it at market rate through SOL Credits. Stampable drawings export for systems up to three transformers, typically around 15 MW; larger systems export for reference only.

Can the simulation be defended to a third party?

Solesca holds a cooperative research agreement with NREL, CRADA CRD-23-23746, DNV SolarFarmer runs inside Solesca, and the model exports to PVsyst, CAD and 8760, so a reviewer re-runs the work in their own environment.

Does Solesca do structural or geotechnical analysis?

No. Solesca covers layout and electrical scope, and fits racking to existing terrain within your slope limits, reporting pile reveals. It does not perform structural or geotechnical analysis, give embedment depth, model cut and fill or produce a grading design.
